The Glistening waters is located in Falmouth Jamaica, It is only found in four places in the world, however, this lagoon is the brightest of them all due to more consistent climate.
Luminous Lagoon, where the Martha Brae River and the waters of the Caribbean Sea meet. The mixture of these two bodies of water create bioluminescence micro-organisms that when disturbed at night glow brightly. By taking a boat trip into the middle of the Lagoon after nightfall and swimming in the shallow waters of the Lagoon. They light up when touched. You can’t see them during the day, but by night, splashing the water causes an eerie blue glow.
From information given by scientists from the John Hopkins University, the eerie glow comes from small micro-organisms that emit a flash of light when disturbed. These microscopic organisms live and create this natural ocean phenomenon, know as bio-luminescence.
